The little green bungalow . . .

Such a sweet little house.

I shouldn't call it 'small' since I've never been inside and it isn't mine,

but I know the neighborhood and the homes are darling.

Quaint, cozy, perfect.

This bungalow belongs to a friend who asked me to paint it in watercolor when I had time.

I finally had time.

I have two photos of it - one winter and one summer.

The summer house has 4th of July bunting and is beautiful and lush.

But there was something still about the home after a snowfall.

Tight and grounded. Clean and composed.

I love this setting with the pretty green against the grey skies, the hinted-at shapes 

of the trees and foliage.

She loves it and I can't wait to see it framed and in her home.

Love, the Locals Show . . .

 This little show was a sweet surprise!

Organized by a group of four crafty friends and carefully curated to include

the freshest, hippest work out there,

it attracted young modern people who appreciate

well done work and things that they would love to have in their homes.

I was beyond impressed that Lincoln was home to any of these folks!

(I've never seen so many little ones and pregnant moms!)

and it was just exciting to see.

The venue? Gorgeous!
It was held in the restored Wyuka Cemetery Stables. Brick courtyard with inward-facing stable doors (garage doors now) so you had an open center breezeway with huge stable doors opening into the courtyard. There were two big rooms on either side that held 23 artist spaces.

Beautiful. I want to move in.












I'll bet that next year they find bigger digs. 


There were over 1000 people in attendance and with the popularity of this show, they'll need it!

My work fit in (altho' I think I was the oldest artist there - freaky) and keeping it fresh and light will be key

Stinking Water Plume Agate . . .

Weird name

And a new leaf is turned - I'm finally getting my etsy shop back up and running.  I've ignored it for a long time and now that Summer is drawing down, I am bound and determined to get my new work listed.

I also will be listing the stones I've cut and polished and generally just thinning the herd.  Why?  Well, I attended the auction for my friend, Roger Pabian, who passed away this Spring.  A world-class published author and authority on agates, Captain Agate's house was full to the brim with agates in all shapes and sizes, in slabs, rough and polished stones.  

Roger taught me lapidary and I believe that's why I'm so picky about my cabs and how they are finished.  One scratch and it's all the way back to the beginning wheels for me.

His auction showed me just how much a person can accumulate - and I mean that in a nice way - and how little a person can actually use on their own no matter their intent.  Now that I've polished and loved on these little stones, it's time for someone to create something of beauty with each one.  I'll never get to them all.

I'll look at them this way : I don't own any of these stones.  I'm only the caretaker and when I've enjoyed them and taken pride in their beauty, it will be time for them to move on to the next caretaker.  Just promise me that if you buy one, you'll send me pictures of your finished product.  And then you'll be the new caretaker.

Artitudes Art Show and Sale

For the sixth straight year, our Lincoln-based artist group "Artitudes" is hosting an art show and sale and we've chosen a Lincoln-based charity as our partner group. Thanks to our wonderful artists, a portion of all sales will be donated drectly to The Foodbank of Lincoln BackPack Program. And an incredible group of artists we have this time - 35 of them!

If you're in the Lincoln/Omaha area, we'd love to see you there! The show will open for the First Friday Gallery Walk and will be at 8th and Q in The Haymarket at the former site of The Tool House. Dates are December 4-6, Friday 4:00-9:00, Saturday 10:00-5:00 and Sunday 11:00-4:00.

Stop in if you can - there is some incredible artwork for sale here and shopping local from your neighbors to support a local charity is a wonderful thing to do.
